No one has ever died from this stuff.

I remind myself of this fact as I prepare for my journey into what I've come to call the Cannabis Overdose Death Experience, or "CODE Green" for short.

Not that I'm a stranger to this experience, as over the years feelings of dying have more than once with more or less intensity popped into my cannabis-infused consciousness. But never before in my 25-plus years of consumption had I ingested so much of my little green friend, and quite by accident I would add.

Long story short, it was the night of my 56th birthday and, feeling pleasantly exhausted from a busy day of activities, I reached into a goodie bag a friend had given me and retrieved a small package bearing a prominent picture of delicious-looking caramel cookie treats. Needing no other prompting I tore open the package with some minor effort and proceeded to eat or otherwise scarf down in quick succession one after another of these bite-size gourmet confections, each one individually wrapped in shiny, presumably taste-preserving, foil.

"These are quite tasty," I thought to myself as I devoured treat number four and reached to unwrap a fifth. "I wonder who makes them?" Re-inspecting the package for an answer, I noticed much to my astonishment that these delights were dosed with my first medicine of choice...and at 20mg per cookie no less! CODE Green!
